Laboratory of object-oriented geoinformation systems was established by the order of SPIIRAS Director ¹ 37-K of June 17, 2003 on the basis of Research group of object-oriented geoinformation systems that was functioning since 2000 as an entity of SPIIRAS Computer-aided integrated systems laboratory.

    The laboratory is headed by Professor Vasily Popovich, SPIIRAS Deputy Director for Research.

    Currently thirty eight researchers: three full professors, seventeen PhDs number the Laboratory personnel and their middle age is 39 years.
